Head Coach Peter Laviolette Throws Shade At Predecessor
The jury is still out on Peter Laviolette on how he's been coaching the New York Rangers five games in to the season.
The team is currently 3-2.
But statistics show the team is better than their record indicates, and it's really about the team adapting to the new system he is implementing.
Interestingly, Laviolette had this to say about
Artemi Panarin, and might have thrown a little shade about his predecessor, Gerard Gallant.
The quote that seems to call out Gerard Gallant:
I think you really can appreciate what a player does when you actually coach him on a day-in, day-out basis.
Now to be fair, Panarin's two best seasons statistically may have been the years Gerard Gallant was the head coach, as he had 96 and 92 points respectively in the two seasons.
So far this season, Artemi Panarin is off to a hot start with three goals and seven points in five games.
Let's see how well he performs under Laviolette for the rest of the season to really compare the coaching philosophy.
The Rangers will soon be facing off against the Calgary Flames tonight, at Scotiabank Saddledome, in Calgary.
