Chris Drury to go big with a massive trade package in order to foster a revitalization of the lineup

GM Chris Drury is on the hunt for top-six talent during free agency and could find himself looking to the Western Conference for a spark. Though the cost for a winger like Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars might be expensive, it could be worth it down the long haul.
The New York Rangers need scoring talent right away. They would have to look deep into their pockets in order to acquire someone who could positively impact change in their lineup.
But the cost is just one part of the deal, which could see the Rangers profiting from the move later down the road. That's why they should look into a trade for $7.75 million forward, Jason Robertson.
Robertson's availability isn't a sure thing on the market, but with the Dallas Stars looking to increase available cap space, it's not difficult to see the forward as a cap casualty.
A former 40+ goal scorer could be what the Rangers ordered after an anemic year of offense in 2024-25.
Though you have to wonder what the true cost would be? Hypothetically, it'd be a significant buy-in.

Though it seems like it'd be enough to get the deal done, with Drury sending the Rangers the 12th overall pick in 2025 to Pittsburgh, the Stars would likely get the unprotected 2026 1st-round pick.
This season, Robertson has been a revelation for Dallas' offense, scoring 35 goals and 80 points.
He's a verified playoff performer and has earned every bit of his $7.75 million cap hit, but with Matt Duchene recently signed, the team doesn't have enough space to sign other talent.
It's either Jamie Benn or Jason Robertson.
We think GM Jim Nill would trade Robertson for the haul of assets he could acquire.
