The New York Rangers newly acquired defenseman Carson Soucy reveals the true reason behind waiving his No-Trade Clause to join the Rangers organization.
During the NHL Deadline General Manager Chris Drury acquired defenseman Carson Soucy from the Vancouver Canucks for a third-round pick according to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman.
Soucy will certainly provide the left-side of the Rangers defense with some much needed muscle. In 69 games this season he's scored only 11 points (4 G, 7 A), one of those goals coming from his debut with the Rangers on Saturday.

While there's been no indication that the two spoke before the trade, Soucy and defenseman Will Borgen are buddies, along with being teammates with J.T. Miller while being with the Canucks.
However, he waived his no-trade clause to play on Broadway, a sure sign that he wants to be with the Rangers. Next year the NTC will be reduced to 12 NHL teams, something GM Chris Drury considered before finalizing the deal.
Carson Soucy on waiving his NTC to join the #NYR :
"There was definitely multiple factors. Obviously, a team that wants you, wants to trade for you, is a big part of that. Nice having [JT] Miller, [Will] Borgen here. We were pretty tight in Seattle. Obviously, just New York, playing for the Rangers, playing in Madison Square Garden."
