The New York Rangers are gearing up for the March 7th trade deadline tomorrow, and GM Chris Drury will be busy working the phones to snag a last minute deal.
Well folks, the NHL deadline is finally upon us, and no one really knows where the New York Rangers stand.
The New York Rangers did a majority of their heavy lifting the past few months, with the most notable acquisition being superstar J.T Miller.
Chris Drury might have an underwhelming deadline
In all fairness, tt doesn't really matter at this point if the Rangers end up being buyers or sellers at this point. Chris Drury simply doesn't have the ammunition to complete a blockbuster trade, especially considering the core of his team has been listed as "untouchable".
As it stands,
Chris Kreider is the only viable trade option, but that remains highly unlikely.
There are Chris Kreider trade rumors, but that might be a difficult needle to thread right now for general manager Chris Drury. Plus, Kreider is sidelined with an upper-body injury.
Keeping an eye on the market for a left-handed defenseman - likely one with term remaining on his contract - is intriguing, but could also prove difficult to make happen. Especially with players flying off the market.
As for the rest of the hockey market, Carolina Hurricanes superstar forward has emerged as the hottest item leading up to tomorrow's deadline.
According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Canes' have received what sources describe as multiple 'compelling' offers for Rantanen and teams still have 24+ hours to make their best deal.
Despite Rantanen being the hottest topic, you can count the Rangers as potential suitors.
