The New York Rangers have changed significantly upon Braden Schneider's return to the lineup. The defenseman has a new head coach in Mike Sullivan and a new lineup to get to know, as the shutdown defenseman is eager to knock off the rust and get back into the fray.
Braden Schneider
hasn't played a hockey game in the NHL since April 12th last season.
He'd been
nursing a torn labrum the last few seasons, and
returned to the lineup after recovering from surgery.
The defenseman has been able to get back into the lineup and play his game against the New York Islanders last night.
He'd contribute an assist in the team's 3-2 win over their Metropolitan Division rivals from Long Island. Schneider would contribute in other ways on the ice with 2 blocked shots and 4 hits, playing a total of 11:19 time on ice.
Schneider's excitement to get back into the lineup and contribute to the Rangers' latest win can't be understated:
Braden Schneider's Return to the Lineup: Much Needed
While Schneider has played mainly in the bottom four at the beginning of his career in the league, his shutdown style of play has been missing during the preseason. Thought to be one player who'd slot in on the left this season, playing with defenseman Will Borgen, we've seen the exact opposite.
He's remained on his right side and has found a way to contribute so soon after his recovery during an exhibition matchup against the Islanders.
The former 19th overall pick will be playing his fourth full NHL season in 2025-26, and has played a total of 286 games in the league during his career.
