Instead of confirming his commitment to the team, he'd let it all out during the press conference for Team Canada.
«All options are on the table, really,» McDavid said, when asked if he'd prefer to have his contract settled before the 2025-26 season begins.

Will Connor McDavid Choose New York over Edmonton?
While it'd be erroneous to read too much into the situation, there's no telling how he will approach negotiations with GM Stan Bowman. The team has refused to address dismal goaltending, which could be partly to blame for two Stanley Cup losses.
Of course, McDavid also reiterated that he has «every intention to win in Edmonton.»
He does have the choice to move on from Edmonton once he hits UFA, and that is with or without a Stanley Cup. Something that should keep Stan Bowman up at night.

«Like I said at the end of June, I had every intention just to take my time with it, and I still feel the same way,» he said. «Take my time and go through everything.»
The Rangers are a prime destination for someone like Connor McDavid, who could experience the same kind of fanfare he does in Edmonton. But with a team whose destined for more playoff experience.
He could help lead the charge.
