It seems that the Montreal Canadiens could be a suitor for the New York Ranger's Kaapo Kakko.
Of course, when the topic comes up, a piece going back in return for the Rangers would have to be another player with some upside.
According to USA Today's Vince Mercogliano, Drury is looking to trade Kakko as soon as possible, but no proposals have moved the needle.

Kakko was the 2nd overall pick in the 2019 Draft, and this season posted just 19 points in 61 games. A regression compared to 2022-2023, where he posted 40 points in 82 games with the Rangers.
Despite all of this, GM Chris Drury and the Rangers signed Kakko to a one-year, $2.4 Million deal.
Kakko is still on the trade block even after signing his latest deal with the team, as his contract is affordable he could fit under many teams rosters, who have the space.
Kakko was originally Jeff Gorton's selection in 2019, and would obviously be the link to the Canadiens. Would Gorton and Kent Hughes be the ones to give the Finnish forward, a fresh start in Montreal?
A change of scenery could be useful for all parties, as the Habs get a fresh affordable face for the rebuild and Chris Drury clears more cap space.
