Macklin Celebrini's humbling interview with Sportsnet during lottery
Future number one draft pick Macklin Celebrini sat down with Sportsnet and gave a humbling interview regarding the potential of him to be drafted to the San Jose Sharks. He was on set as many watched the San Jose Sharks being selected as the number one overall draft pick.
During his interview, he seemed rather nervous and gave a statement that if he was drafted first overall that he would be happy to go to the San Jose Sharks.
"If I'm fortunate enough to get drafted there, I'd be very lucky."
The 17-year-old has been playing in the NCAA for Boston University over the course of this year where he played 38 games, scoring 32 goals with 32 assists for 64 points with 18 penalty minutes. He also spent a year with the Chicago steel of the USHL. His stats were even more impressive as he played fifty games, scoring 46 goals with 40 assists for 86 points and 62 penalty minutes.
As Celebrini mentioned, he had previously lived in the San Francisco area as his father Rick Celebrini worked for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA as their director of sports medicine and performance.
With every pundit pegging him as first overall, it's essentially A foregone conclusion that he will be heading to Northern California in late June.
