James Dolan has stood behind GM Chris Drury as he's fired his fourth coach. Thus begins an exhaustive search for a coach who can take the team to new heights, and hopefully a Stanley Cup. Here are some great candidates to take over for ex-Head Coach Peter Laviolette.

The New York Rangers begin another exhaustive search for a Head Coach as GM Chris Drury has unceremoniously fired another coach, two years into his tenure.
The roster last season earned a Presidents' Trophy and reached the Eastern Conference Final. Despite his past successes, Peter Laviolette didn't have a long leash, and neither did his predecessors.
Now, Drury will have to drop a lure into the water in hopes of securing a coach who can turn the team around, with their winning ways only a season removed.
Who'd be a great replacement for Peter Laviolette?

David Carle

David Carle has had success in the NCAA and IIHF. He's won back-to-back Gold Medals in the IIHF with Team USA, and it's ranks chock full of top NHL prospects.
Now, he could be lured away from the University of Denver if the price is right, but Drury will have to compete with the Blackhawks for his services.
He has connections to New York through Gabe Perreault and Drew Fortescue, whom he coached during the IIHF WJC.

Jay Leach

Leach has solid coaching experience in the AHL with the Providence Bruins, developing the Bruins' prospects and coming out on top with a strong record in the minors. He'd join the Seattle Kraken as an assistant coach for two seasons, and in 2024, join the Bruins coaching staff.
Leach is known for his development of discipline in his ranks and for giving his teams structure. His goal: to make the team difficult to play against.

Mitch Love

Love has risen to an assistant coach with the Washington Capitals after working his way through the ranks from the AHL's Calgary Wranglers. He'd earn a coach of the year award twice during his tenure, and ended his time with a record of 96-33-8-3 with the Wranglers.
His team's were built on efficiency and structure. The lineups he built were responsible on the blue line, and emphasized the importance of special teams.
The Rangers could use someone like Love to help develop top prospects and build discipline across the team's ranks.
