The Salute to Rangers legendary broadcaster Sam Rosen has begun as several emotional farewells have emerged
The New York Rangers are preparing to say goodbye to play-by-play announcer Sam Rosen who will retire at the end of the season. Players have begun to send their well-wishes to the announcer who has been the voice of the team for the last 40 years.
The New York Rangers will say goodbye to Sam Rose at the end of the season. Rosen has announced Rangers games for 40+ years now and has seen a lot of team history in that time frame.
"This is what I grew up on," Rosen told NHL.com. "I grew up in New York. I grew up in Brooklyn. I grew up as a Rangers fan. To do this for as long as I have is unbelievable. You don't keep count while you're doing it but when you reach this point you can look back and say, 'Hey, this has been a pretty good run.' And, of course, 1994 makes it the ultimate because they won the biggest prize of all, and they won it at the Garden, and nothing could be better than that."
He'd call historic games like the team's 1994 Stanley Cup win, with Mark Messier as Captain.
Now with the Rangers outside of the playoffs, players, fans, and colleagues and sending their wishes to Rosen as he plans to retire and step away from the mic.
Dan Girardi and Ryan Callahan's heartfelt message to Rosen:
Kreider like Rosen will always be a name associated with the Rangers, and you can tell the message that Kreids relayed stoically, was heartfelt.
Rosen will always be known for his epic call for Game 7 which saw the Rangers defeat the Canucks to win the Cup.
We want to piggyback on Dan Girardi, Ryan Callahan, Chris Kreider, and Will Cuylle and congratulate Sam Rosen on his retirement.
