Sign and Trade: Major turn of events has surfaced in K'Andre Miller joining the Hurricanes

NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has made a major announcement as the New York Rangers have traded defenseman K'Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes. Along with the announcement, we now know what he'll make with the divisional rival.
The New York Rangers defenseman K'Andre Miller has been traded to the Carolina Hurricanes. It appears that out of the 12-15 major NHL clubs, the Hurricanes and GM Eric Tulsky have won the Miller sweepstakes.
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman announced the signing, as the former 1st-round pick will be earning $7.5 million AAV over the next eight years.
He'll be joining a contender, and playing under Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour, who has been a consistent leader in the NHL.
Miller had experienced a downturn in play during his last season in New York, scoring only 27 points (7-20) and losing his confidence in his game.
Now, he'll be able to get a fresh start in Carolina and play on a perennial playoff contender with a dedicated fanbase.
Though they remain a divisional rival, we're happy for him and his new home.
But when playoffs roll around, undoubtedly, the gloves will come off as the Rangers have a mandate to shut down the storm warning when it heads to MSG.
The Rangers have given up a player who has some upside left, while arguably giving the Hurricanes a new weapon to dominate the ice with.
Will this move pay off after the acquisition of Vladislav Gavrikov? We'll see.
The return has yet to be determined, but we assume it won't just be "future considerations".
