Vladislav Gavrikov officially signs with the New York Rangers with a massive contract: Per Elliotte Friedman
Earlier last night NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman dropped a massive update regarding New York Rangers pursuit of top defensive free agent from the Los Angeles Kings, Vladislav Gavrikov.
The New York Rangers desperately need to bolster their defense before the start of next season. As last season, the team failed to deliver on their mandate to head to the Stanley Cup playoffs; once pegged as contenders, they were no better than pretenders.
By now it's no secret that Rangers GM Chris Drury is highly interested in defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov from the L.A. Kings as he would certainly provide much need support on the Rangers defensive end, more importantly on the left side.
All Chris Drury needs to do is have cap space ready for UFA Vladislav Gavrikov, who could very well be the next Blueshirt.
As it stands now, the New York Rangers have a total of $12.19 million in cap space, which should be enough to sign Gavrikov. TSN's Frankie Corrado thinks he could earn up to $7.5 million in free agency, however it could be even more following

Late on Monday night, the night before free agency officially begins, Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Los Angeles Kings and Gavrikov could not reach an agreement on a deal, leaving Vladislav Gavrikov to head to the free agency market.

According to several reports the New York Rangers have officially signed Vladislav Gavrikov to a 7-year deal worth that carries a $7M AAV.
Certainly a massive pick up by the New York Rangers and GM Chris Drury, however, we will now see what they do to clear up some cap space as
