It was announced yesterday that forward Gabe Perreault had signed his ELC with the New York Rangers. His journey to New York would be a whirlwind, and his experience would involve lifer Chris Kreider who reached out to him after his first NHL contract signing.

Gabe Perreault has a great support system in New York, he's found out. After signing his ELC with GM Chris Drury and the New York Rangers, two Blue shirt forwards reached out to the prospect.
Chris Kreider would reach out to Gabe Perreault and offer the prospect the kind of help we're sure he needed when he made the jump from college in 2012.
Kreider's experience turning pro left him wanting to help out the young forward who has a lot to learn, whether or not he finds himself in the AHL or NHL next season.
Perreault made the jump from Boston College to the New York Rangers organization as a sophomore.
A year earlier than Kreider would, however, given the level of skill we've seen Perreault play with his arrival in New York, wearing the uniform may come quicker than we expect.
While it might be premature to suggest that Perreault will make it straight to the NHL from college, he will have to fight for a spot during training camp next season.
He'll have to compete with Brett Berard, Matt Rempe, and other prospects during training camp.
Nothing is given in the NHL; despite his connections to the sport with his father Yanic in Chicago, he knows it's earned.
And he'll have help from Chris Kreider, a 13-year NHL veteran to help along the way.
Perreault played 73 games for the Boston College Eagles, scoring 108 points (35 goals, 73 assists).
