Rangers' Victor Mancini comments on facing Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers
The New York Rangers have dipped into Hartford to call up Victor Mancini from the Wolfpack.
Tonight he will face off against the Edmonton Oilers, and Connor McDavid one of the best players in the NHL.
Mancini went through a short stay in the AHL before the Rangers came calling once again. Which can be a great thing, but I'm sure the constant traveling could wear on him.
Sending down Leschyshyn leaves both Mancini and Chad Ruhwedel on the roster.
The 22-year-old played a total of three games with the Wolf Pack as he tallied one goal through his short stint. Again a small price for the young defenseman to pay, when he gets another look at the Rangers' bottom-pairing tonight.
Mancini addressed Mollie Walker of the NHL Network at another opportunity in the NHL.
He sounds ready to grab the brass ring and find a way to make a difference tonight, despite the lack of rest.
Per Peter Laviolette the Rangers wanted him to get more playing time:
«He was here, he didn't do anything to lose that spot, we just didn't want him sitting here not playing games. To keep him going and developing, he went back down to play games,» Rangers coach Peter Laviolette explained Saturday. «Now he's back. 'Rudy' is a good defenseman for us, he's played well. But the way it came out of camp, we were going with Vic at the time and I was upfront and honest and said if I could play seven I would, but we can't. We just didn't want him sitting here doing nothing and so we sent him down to play games until we needed him again.»
Mancini only played 3 games in Hartford and would tally a goal before being called back up to New York.
Could he continue his tear tonight against Stuart Skinner?
