Proposed Blockbuster: New York Rangers To Trade Top Prospect To Acquire Stanley Cup Champion

President and General Manager Chris Drury and the New York Rangers find themselves in a tough spot once again, as the organization lacks a top-line center for their top-six forward group. As veteran forward Vincent Trocheck is projected to lead the first line with Artemi Panarin and Alexis Lafreniere.

Certainly a great line for the Rangers, but that won't be enough for them to secure their place in the 2025-26 Playoffs. Which leaves the idea of the New York Rangers turning to the St. Louis Blues for their veteran center and captain Brayden Schenn.

The New York Rangers would need to take on Schenn's full cap hit of $6.5M if they don't want to offer their first-round pick. But if they Rangers wanted the Blues to retain some salary, the price would certainly increase and would have to cost the Rangers a first-round pick.

Something the Rangers can afford as they have two-first round picks in the 2026 Draft, one being their own and they other coming from the Carolina Hurricanes that they secured in a trade for defenseman K'Andre Miller.

Parssinen would be included as a replacement for Schenn in the Blues' lineup. However, Brett Berard, a solid prospect, could be one piece the Blues demand as the price for letting their captain go as the 22-year old is showing great promise.

That type of flexibility that 33-year old Brayden Schenn will be able to provide the Ranges and head coach Mike Sullivan is important as he can play down the middle and even on the sides if needed.
