Peter Laviolette reveals why the Rangers needed to recall Matt Rempe from the Hartford Wolfpack
The New York Rangers need a spark of life in the lineup after they have traded Kaapo Kakko. Now, they have recalled Matt Rempe from the Hartford Wolfpack, after sending Victor Mancini back to the AHL.
There's word out that the New York Rangers are going to be making major moves soon. While there's been no confirmation of what will happen, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman thinks the Rangers will look different very soon.
In the meantime, since Kaapo Kakko was traded, the Rangers need to fill out the ranks with some depth pieces.
In comes fan favorite, Matt Rempe from the Hartford Wolfpack.
This season he's spent the majority of the time in the AHL, playing 18 games and scoring 5 points( 3 G, 2 A) with the Wolfpack.
Head Coach Peter Laviolette was asked about the choice to call up Rempe from the Wolfpack.
Much to many fans liking, the hard-nosed, gritty enforcer has found his way back into the NHL.
His return wasn't expected so soon, and it looks like that effort he put in during the offseason has paid off after all hasn't it?
If he's caught the eye of Laviolette, you have to wonder where he'll slot in tonight against the Dallas Stars.
He'll be a brute force, wrecking-ball and hopefully can find a way to offer some potential upside that Jimmy Vesey hasn't been able to add lately.
When the Rangers called up Rempe last season, his presence brought an excitement to the team and despite not recording many points, the team was winning when he was in the lineup.
