NHL insider confirms Rangers star forward's time with the Rangers is over
NHL Insider reveals the New York Rangers are working to buyout forward's contract.
After the New York Rangers faced a disappointing elimination in the Eastern Conference Finals, they have being working hard on reshaping their roster for the 2024-24 season.
According to Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff, the Rangers are set to buyout the contract of 31-year old forward, Barclay Goodrow, as the first buyout window of the offseason will open 48 hours after the winning team claims the name of the Stanley Cup Champions.
With Goodrow still having three years remaining on his contract with an $3.64 million AAV, the New York Rangers believe paying $3.6 million for a fourth-line center to be too much. However, despite his great efforts he only managed to score 6 goals in 16 games and 4 goals in 80 regular season games.
With the Rangers buying out Goodrow's contract they could receive a unique salary cap credit of $247,222 for next season and increase their cap to $88.247 million.
