The New York Rangers have a plan B should their free agency plans fall through. According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, GM Chris Drury will utilize offer sheets should he fail to secure a contract with the top free agents available in 2025.
The New York Rangers will be one of many NHL teams that will look to improve their lineup on July 1st.
A lot of the talent available will be due for raises, and will have contract demands that could push the Rangers into a crunch. If that should happen, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman details GM Chris Drury's backup plans.
We should expect the Rangers to be aggressive, and Elliotte Friedman mentioned that Drury may take an unconventional route: offer sheets.
While JJ Peterka is one player they could target with offer sheets, the Minnesota Wild's
Marco Rossi, the Toronto Maple Leafs'
Matthew Knies should be on their radar as well.
The Rangers should already have a good list of veteran talent to help put the team on the right path to begin the 2025 season.
With their playoff experience, they could be one piece that's been missing in the Rangers' puzzle for quite some time now.
The New York Rangers could find themselves back in playoff contention should they play their cards right this offseason.
