The New York Rangers are in full offseason mode as the team prepares for the draft and ready to move defenseman K'Andre Miller on one condition.

Drury will trade Miller to the highest bidder rather than just move him for the sake of moving him as the 25-year-old defenseman will be a key piece to any team who acquires him.

Despite defensive questions, Miller will be wanted

It's been known for the past couple of weeks that the Rangers are preparing to move off Miller as the team will need to make their decision and attempt to get as much back as possible in terms of assets.
The big fear for the Rangers is that Miller will be offered cheated by another organization which will dictate the outcome and return for his services.
If the Rangers were able to trade him instead, the team could see far more value in terms of draft picks, a roster player or even a prospect who could help stock the cupboard and give the Rangers more youth and depth later.
Standing at 6 foot 5 and 209 lbs, he was drafted by the Rangers in 2018, first round 22nd overall. Teams will be certainly calling Drury for his availability as his size will be an asset for many teams defence corps.
This season, he had played 74 games scoring seven goals with 20 assists for 27 points and had 22 penalty minutes.

Drury wants a different style of defense

It's clear that Drury is looking to remodel and reshape their defence core as the team had struggled to defend throughout the season.
Moving Miller and potentially other defensemen appears to be the path that Drury wants to take and there are other defensemen who will become unrestricted free agents after July 1st who include Los Angeles Kings defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov.
It remains to be seen on who Drury will get over the coming days and weeks throughout the off season but with the cupboard emptying with the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers will need to find replacement players and better prospects even if that means moving a defenseman at 25 years old in Miller.
The NHL draft will begin on June 27th an unrestricted free agency will open on July 1st where jury will have his chances to help better his team and use his opening cap space.
