Rashit Davydov is a Russian goalie coach who has worked with New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin early in his hockey career.
After Davydov helped the KHL's Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, he addressed the rumors swirling about leaving for New York.
"I cannot comment right now on whether I will join Igor Shesterkin at the Rangers. I don't know if it will work out. Igor and I are in contact, but it's complicated. Most likely, I will leave Lokomotiv. At best, I might stay on as a consultant," Davydov said after winning the Gagarin Cup.
There are reports by RG.org that there are variables getting in the way of him finalizing his decision. One of those influencing his timeline is his family, as he has two young kids.
Shesterkin worked with Davydov when he played for SKA St. Petersburg and would continue to work with Davydov while playing for the Russian national team.
The duo continued to work together in order to maintain his game in Russia during the postseason.
Time will tell if the New York Rangers can bring over Davydov, but with the stock of talent he's worked with that's been successful in the NHL, it's difficult to say no to such a prospect, right?
