New York Rangers linked to solid depth winger from Western Conference team: Major trade incoming
New York Rangers reportedly continually looking to add depth to their offensive line this offseason, and another intriguing wingers has just emerged.
According to reports from the Fourth Period's Summer Trade List, McCann is reportedly on the block as multiple teams, including the Rangers have expressed interest in the 28-year-old winger.
McCann is now entering the fourth year of a five-year, $25 million contract, which is reasonably affordable considering his production. McCann has reached a career-highs in points and goals in 2022-23 season, and has put up some solid numbers the last two seasons.
The former first-round pick from 2014 has emerged as a consistent 20-goal, 60-point player, though he could top 30 goals again under the right circumstances.
Why Jared McCann would be a good fit for the New York Rangers
So adding McCann could result in Cuylle to move down a line and so on, or could even see Lafreniere move down to the second line with Mika Zibanejad going to the third.
McCann's possible addition would give the New York Rangers several options. Something they especially need as the Rangers look to get back to their Presidents' Trophy form of 2023-24, or even make the playoffs.
