The game to honor Hayden Thorsen, and to continue advocacy for mental health outreach in the Hockey community, took place yesterday. New York Rangers such as Matt Rempe and Jonathan Quick took part in the matchup, as the social media team sent out an important message to fans everywhere.

Reach out. Check in. Make contact.

The Shoulder Check Showcase took place at 6 PM on Terry Conners Rink in Stamford, CT.
The New York Rangers took part in the nonprofit game as a way of advocating for the mental health of the hockey community.
The game itself has been a yearly event since 2022, and has featured star-studded casts of players to sign up for a good cause.
The cause? Hayden Thorsen.
The hockey community, pulled closer together by an effervescent 16-year-old youth hockey player from Darien, Connecticut, taking his own life on May 21, 2022, were ready for a midsummer hockey game.

Rempe, Jonathan Quick, Chris Kreider, and other Rangers ( former Rangers) took part in the match.
Following the game, the Rangers' social media team would relay this message once again: If you need help, reach out, check in on your family, friends, and people, and make contact.
In a world where toughness and grit are heralded as eternal virtues, while the true mental health toll is ignored regularly, this couldn't be a more pertinent time to broadcast this.
Fortunately enough, we had Kreider, who had his own set of issues to deal with, speak out as well.
"There's a big paradigm shift," Kreider said. "A big change in people's comfort level when it comes to talking about these things."

In addition to showing up for a good cause, Chris Kreider used the event to say goodbye to New York Rangers fans in Connecticut.
We'll see how he fares in Anaheim, while you should heed the words of the Shoulder Check Showcase if you're not feeling well mentally: Reach Out. Check In. Make Contact.
