Defenseman Victor Mancini is getting another look in the NHL.
It was reported on "X" by NHL Insider Rick Dhaliwal, of Donnie and Dhali, who covers the Canucks on CHEK TV.
Mancini was originally a 159th overall pick in the 5th round of the 2022 NHL Draft. He was projected to make the Rangers roster last season, but would be utilized in a number of games, making his NHL debut last year against the Detroit Red Wings (his hometown team).
He'd later be a focal point of the JT Miller
trade with the Vancouver Canucks.
Now, it looks as if the youth movement is alive and well in Vancouver, as the defenseman has been re-called to Vancouver.
Victor Mancini Recalled by The Vancouver Canucks Ahead of the Game against the Calgary Flames
The former 5th-round pick, Mancini, has been recalled from Abbotsford ahead of the game against the Calgary Flames on October 9th, for the home opener.
The rookie defenseman has played a total of 31 games in the NHL and scored 8 points (2-6) with 10 penalty minutes.
Now he'll have a chance to make a case for himself to stay in the regular lineup, after helping to push the Abbotsford Canucks
to the Calder Cup finals in 2024-25.
The former Rangers defenseman signed a
two-year contract in New York, which pays him $870K AAV, and will be a pending RFA at the end of this season.
