Ryan Callahan provides game and studio analysis for NHL coverage on ESPN. Callahan joined the ESPN broadcast team in 2021, where he serves as an analyst for select NHL games.
The
former Rangers Captain has spent the last four years and made a heartfelt statement about his time with ESPN.
Now,
he'll have more time to spend at home and be around the most important thing in his life: Family.
Ryan Callahan's NHL Career
The former Rangers captain has played 757 games in the NHL, suiting up for the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning.
He's scored 386 points (186-200) in that timeframe, and played 121 career total playoff games with both the Rangers and Lightning during his 12 years in the league.
Callahan was part of the silver-medal-winning Team USA in 2010. He'd follow up with an appearance in the Olympics in 2014 with Team USA again and finish in fourth place.
The former right-winger has kept busy outside of the game of hockey, forming the Ryan Callahan Foundation, which helps families defeat Pediatric Cancer, and gives them a full NHL experience in addition to assistance fighting the disease:
The foundation is comprised of three elements - Cally's Crew, which provides a chance for families in the pediatric cancer community to be the Callahan's guests in a VIP suite at either a Tampa Bay Ray's game, or the Rochester Red Wings; the 2-4 Club, which selects a monthly recipient to receive financial assistance; and Cally's Comforts, which provides a day of spa services for the entire family in the comfort on their home, or private salon. The foundation also provides direct funding as an effort to support local and independent pediatric cancer foundations in support of a cure.
We wish Ryan Callahn the best of luck in his future endeavors, no one is more deserving of retirement.
