Juuso Parssinen was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche along with Calvin de Haan last season. His first stint with the New York Rangers saw him suit up for 11 games. After two trades in one season, he'll have to prove himself to Chris Drury and Mike Sullivan in order to maintain a spot in the regular lineup.
Parssinen would be part of the package sent to New York, as the team sent
Ryan Lindgren and Jimmy Vesey to the Colorado Avalanche, along with a prospect attached.
After his acquisition, the forward would be used sparsely, playing only 11 games, and scoring 5 points (2-3).. All of his points would be scored in his final three games played in a Blueshirt at the end of the year.
He'd include a masterclass against the Islanders on April 10th, with a three-point night in the Metropolitan Division rivalry.
While Parssinen wasn't a top-billing forward, we could see that he produced for the Rangers in a limited role.
Parssinen has had a rough year in 2024-25. He'd be shipped from Nashville to Colorado, and from Colorado to New York.
The former seventh-round pick didn't let the struggles get to him and decided to lace up his skates and show General Manager Chris Drury what he's capable of.
He's still young enough at age 24 that he hasn't quit developing yet, and could find a way to replicate his best season in the NHL with the Nashville Predators, where he scored 25 points (9-16) in 45 games in 2022-23.
The 6-foot-4 forward has a lot of offensive upside that Mike Sullivan will have to tap into if he is to make Parssinen a regular player in the lineup.
If he finds a way to stay on the scoresheet, the Original Six teams have done well with a bargain bin trade.
Parssinen's career totals are: 137 games played, 53 points (20-33), and 46 PIMs.
