Mike Sullivan Reveals The Truth Behind Recalling Brennan Othmann From The AHL Over Other Top Prospects

New York Rangers head coach explains the reasoning behind the organization recalling Brennan Othmann from the Hartford Wolf Pack to replace Matt Rempe after he sustained an injury.
On Thursday night, Matt Rempe was involved in a very heated altercation with San Jose Sharks enforcer Ryan Reaves and was forced to exit the game early after sustaining an upper-body injury.
Something that resulted in the Rangers to recall 22-year old offensive prospect, Brennan Othmann, from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League, to have an extra forwarad on board due to the fact that Rempe's injury status was unknown.
However, many have been wondering why the Rangers recalled Othmann over other top prospects, and head coach Mike Sullivan has just revealed why.

"I think we're looking for guys to step in and help us win games. Whether it be helping us offensively or being diligent defensively. Otter and I have had a number of conversations since before training camp started to where we are right now and what the expectations are and how we think he could potentially carve a role on this team. I think he has an offensive side to him. I think that his opportunity is just in his attention to detail with respect to play away from the puck and just reliability and knowing your job and doing your job. That's an important element, I think, in making the jump from the American League to the National League. He's going to get an opportunity here and we'll see how it goes."

Hopefully Mike Sullivan made the right decision by recalling Othmann, as it appears he will be slotting into the Rangers lineup over Jonny Brodzinski, at least according to the Rangers practice lines on Saturday.
