The Los Angeles Kings are attempting to retain defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov as several teams including the New York Rangers have been circling to sign him.
Gavrikov Has been linked to the Rangers as many feel the organization is the primary destination he would like to play for.
Gavrikov has received multiple offers from Kings
Kings general manager Ken Holland has stated that the team has offered several offers to Gavrikov to retain him but all to no avail.
«Rob Blake had made an offer, and I went beyond that offer,» Holland said on Wednesday. «And so now we are continuing to talk, and I think I made another offer, so we'll see.» - Ken Holland
32 Thoughts podcaster and Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman seems to feel the Rangers will be the likely destination for Gavrikov as the Rangers are trying to improve their defense.
«Among left shots, Vladislav Gavrikov is not believed to have a long list of places he wants to go if he leaves Los Angeles, which is why so many are pointing to the Rangers,» - Elliotte Friedman
Rangers general manager Chris Drury has been clear that the team will be making major changes after the team was embarrassed by not making the playoffs after being the President's Trophy winners the year prior.
Seravalli has given a preview of a contract for Gavrikov
Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli has given a preview of what a contract will look like for Gavrikov, and it will not be inexpensive.
He feels it will be a seven-year deal that will be on average of 8 million dollars per season. The Rangers are attempting to trade defenseman
K'Andre Miller before July 1st, and many feel he will be presented with an offer sheet which would diminish the return.
The Rangers, meanwhile, are preparing for the second half of the NHL draft as rounds two through seven will take place this afternoon on June 28th where they will have eight draft picks starting in round two.
