Laviolette gambling with the Rangers in the final weeks
In the final weeks of the NHL, it's quite common for head coaches to try different things as they are looking for consistency and potential lineup combinations as they had into the first round.
It seems however, that head coach Peter Laviolette his choosing to go a different route where he is leaning on his top six players more and his bottom six are barely playing at all.
This strategy, may not work so well for the Rangers as the team seeks to have 4 balanced lines especially which would bode well for the playoffs.
Players like Alexis LaFreniere, Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad will all be key players for the Rangers but will need to have their minutes cut to preserve them for the long haul.
With the Rangers now in a playoff spot having clinched a few days ago, the only thing left to play for in the season is to finish first in the metro division.
This will all but guarantee home ice advantage and help with an easier matchup.
The Rangers next game will be against the Arizona Coyotes which will be held on March 30th at 6:00 PM eastern.
