After the Four Nations Face-Off has ended, all eyes have turned to the NHL regular season and the Gr8 Chase. Included in that large audience is "The Great One" Wayne Gretzky who has announced he will follow Alex Ovechkin in the final fourteen games of the year.

Tonight Alex Ovechkin has hit another milestone as he's scored goal #888 against the Philadelphia Flyers, a Metropolitan Division rival for the team.
In the audience is former Rangers legend, Wayne Gretzky who like Gordie Howe before him has decided to tag along for when and IF Ovechkin can surpass him in the All-Time Goal Scored category.
Gretzky has held that record until Ovechkin went on a hot-streak this season, after only scoring eight goals last year.
However, you have to think while sports stars are literally bigger than life figures, they are human and not infallible.
Ovechkin's baggage will be the record he hasn't beaten yet (895), plus Wayne Gretzky and Gary Bettman.
"Alex Ovechkin's pursuit of the NHL's all-time goal-scoring record is a major milestone not just for hockey, but across the entire sports world," Jon Weinstein, the league's chief communications officer, said in a statement. "We're looking forward to marking this historic chase in multiple ways that reflect the magnitude of this incredible moment."

Could the "Russian Machine Never Breaks" break in the face of a superstar staring down a potential legacy coming to fruition?
Or will it?
Again, Ovechkin is human and had to combat a broken fibula which kept him sidelined for a month this season.
There was speculation that he wouldn't be up to breaking the record, but he has shot the puck 191 times this season and scored 35 goals.

Gr8 Chase or Great One Breaks Him?

The Washington Capitals are in the midst of a playoff berth under Head Coach Spencer Carberry, while Ovechkin has the burden of being the star of the team yet again.
Can he hold tight under the pressure, or will he crack?
The Washington Capitals are 45-15-8 and leading the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0 at the end of the 2nd period.
