Jimmy Vesey played for both the New York Rangers and Colorado Avalanche last season. Yet he hasn't signed a new contract in the NHL, which has him looking to Europe for a new deal in the KHL. The land of misfit NHLers.

Jimmy Vesey doesn't have an NHL contract yet, and it is August. Typically, a bad sign for UFAs who want to continue their career in professional hockey.
For Vesey, who played for both the Avalanche and Rangers last season, he didn't have the kind of impact we've seen him have in seasons prior.
According to KHL Insider Daria Tuboltseva, the SKA St. Petersburg team is a suitor for Vesey, a former Hobey Baker Award winner.
«Jimmy has been asking a lot of questions about how things work in the KHL and is seriously considering offers from the top European league,» Tuboltseva wrote.

Vesey has been an NHL journeyman, spending his first few years of his NHL career with the Rangers, and then circling back via the New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres, and Vancouver Canucks.
His time in New York wasn't fruitful, and his frustration about his lack of play time has bubbled to the surface in his last statement to Larry Brooks of the New York Post.
«I love being a Ranger, and I think everyone knows that. The six years I've been here have been the best and most fun I've had as a player,» Vesey said via Larry Brooks of The New York Post. «But this stretch where I haven't dressed for the last [nine] games and have no indication that this is going to change, it's been extremely difficult for me.»

«It seems that I've fallen out of favor and have just been cast aside over an extended period of time. It feels like I have no role or purpose on this team.

Now, he'll join other former NHLers who hope one day that they can return to their home of the NHL.
But for now, it seems his career has hit an all-time low.
