Chris Drury's plan has exploded in his face: locker room in shambles and no-trade in sight
GM Chris Druryannounced that the Rangers were open for business, as two veteran names made the waves around the league.
Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba were two players who could've found themselves on different teams.
Yet with the Rangers' last 6 of 7 games lost, it appears not only has the team lost their confidence, but GM Chris Drury has lost his bargaining chips.
That being Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba:
A little bit over a week ago, Rangers general manager Chris Drury sent out a league-wide memo stating he is interested in making moves and shaking up their roster with Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba's names being indicated as potential options.
Thanks to his hubris, it appears his masterplans have been dashed by his own machinations.
«He let the rest of the league know that they are open for business, they are looking to make a trade,» Mercogliano said. «But what I'm hearing from sources is that it will be extremely difficult to pull off at this stage.»
It appears now as a result of his latest moves, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedmanmade a note that Drury prefers to let the dust settle before that make a rash decision.
That sounds like this statement has come a little late, considering how this entire fiasco has played out.
He may have thought he was motivating his team, but it's just made him look worse. Despite his intentions to attempt to improve the locker room.
First Drury waived Barclay Goodrow over the summer, which was a surprise to everybody since he was a respected veteran presence in the locker room, and now he's followed that up by shopping two of the team's most impactful leaders without even informing them. Drury can continue to backtrack now, but has he considered he is the one who created the dysfunctional environment in the room?
The Rangers are 13-10-1 and 4th in the Metropolitan Division.
