New York Rangers superstar goaltender opens on the 2024-25 season, with many struggles coming on and off the ice, but now with everything out of the way things will hopefully change.

As the 2024-25 season started, Igor Shesterkin remained without a contract extension, something that created a ton of speculation regarding his future with the New York Rangers and later became the biggest talk around the league.
Igor Shesterkin refused to talk about it and stayed focused on what truly mattered.
«I don't read and I try to not hear about that,» Shesterkin said about all of the outside noise during the season. «I just focus on my game, on my practice and on my family. That's it.»

However, in December, Shesterkin signed an eight-year, $92 million contract extension with the New York Rangers, after reportedly turning down an offer of $88 million in
Unfortunately, not long after the contract extension the Rangers began to struggle and Igor Shesterkin started to face a ton of backlash as he had just became the richest goaltender in NHL history.

Igor Shesterkin Opens Up On The New York Rangers Downfall Throughout The 2024-25 Season

During the Rangers exit interviews, Shesterkin was as brutally honest and revealed his true opinion behind the teams downfall:
«In my mind, something broke during the season and (went) the other way,» Shesterkin said. «We couldn't handle it.

«Probably not too much confidence. If we can look on the last season before when we won (the) President's Trophy, if we're down 3-0 we still know we get back but during the season I didn't feel that sometimes.»

This kind of honesty from the 29-year old goaltender truly opens the eyes of his teammates, and should spark some fire for the 2025-26 season as it's needed.
The New York Rangers will be entering the 2025-26 season with a ton of pressure from fans and many surrounding the organization, in hopes of returning to their to their President Trophy form and that starts with the teams leaders such as Shesterkin.
