The Rangers have made a major announcement, as new Head Coach Mike Sullivan will be featured in an interview. As the changing of the guard happens, Sullivan will be interviewed by MSG Network's Dave Maloney in his first official interview for the team.
The New York Rangers made a splash, and it's not even July. They hired former Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan to lead the team into the 2025-2026 NHL season.
The coverage regarding the Rangers' newest Head Coach begins Thursday, May 8th, at 10 AM, on the MSG Networks.
Sullivan joins the ranks as Peter Laviolette failed to replicate a successful 2023-2024 season, which saw the team earn a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals and a Presidents' Trophy.
Drury found his guy. Instead of trying to lure David Carle to New York, Sullivan was an easy pick.
Sullivan has two Stanley Cups to his name and recently coached
Chris Kreider and
Adam Fox in the Four Nations Face-Off.
For a decade, he's been a thorn in the Rangers' side, with
Sidney Crosby at the helm as leader of the Penguins.
Now, he'll get to join his former foes in a role that could see them once again dominate the Metropolitan Division.
But that means GM Chris Drury will have to do his homework as well, building a good roster in the offseason.
With the departure of Sam Rosen, it appears that Dave Maloney might be next in line to take his spot as well.
He'll get his first chance to give us some insight into Mike Sullivan's thoughts regarding his new role.
Sullivan's career coaching record is 911-479-311-15, .592.
