The Hockey News has reported on Artemi Panarin's contract negotiations, or lack thereof, with the Rangers. Since Chris Drury has been mum on discussions of an extension, reporters want to know more, and of course, that means asking the man himself, to which it didn't seem like he cared all that much.

Artemi Panarin has accepted the state of his contract negotiations (or lack thereof) with the New York Rangers.
Chris Drury has chosen not to comment on the situation at this time when asked about Panarin.
This could be considered troubling depending on how you look at the situation. The topic of security was addressed for the superstar forward.
«It's obviously good for everyone to feel that security,» Panarin said. «I'm used to it, being in that situation. It is what it is right now. Just not (going to) complain about it, I'm ready to work hard.»

The forward who scored 37-52-89 points last season has opted to keep his lips shut and will keep his head down and do what he does best. The Rangers' top forward scored 120 points a year prior, when the team won the Presidents' Trophy.
Now, times are precarious, with Chris Drury shipping out those players who will benefit his agenda.
With no deal in his hands and the rest of the season ahead of him, how will he approach his next contract with the Rangers?
That is, even if they offer him a new one. It'd be foolish not to, especially in the case of how many sign-and-trades there are these days.

Artemi Panarin; A New York Ranger in 2026 or not?

While he's been in this situation before, this is uncharted territory for the New York Rangers. They could end up losing their top forward in the lineup if they can't find a sweet spot for his next deal.
Players want long-term security, and with a rising salary cap, it should be easier to deliver, right?
Panarin left the Columbus Blue Jackets after the 2018-19 season and would sign with the New York Rangers that July, signing the $81.5 million contract he's played on since.
«It was alright,» Panarin said about playing without a contract extension in Columbus. «Oviously, after bad games, you are thinking too much, but after good games, you enjoy it more than usual.»

The 33-year-old forward will have to consider whether or not his home is New York, or whether or not he should request a trade if he's not in the team's future plans.
As it stands now, they'd lose a significant amount of production without him in the lineup.
