The New York Rangers will not be represented in the 2026 Olympics. According to a reported list of invitees, not one Rangers player was good enough to be considered for Milan-Cortina in 2026, including Matt Rempe, and Will Cuylle.
The 2024-25 saga of the New York Rangers continues into the postseason. In what was once thought to be a "run-it-back" year, the team indeed ran it back but into the bottom of the division.
The Rangers squad was once considered the comeback kids, and had a fight, which was lost this year. So much so that it has affected certain Rangers' chances at international play, in the Olympics.
Three Rangers players who are Canadian didn't get an invite to try out for the 2026 Olympics Orientation camp.
While we thought Will Cuylle, after his standout year, might be a bottom-six option for Hockey Canada, it appears he won't be, along with Matt Rempe. While
Braden Schneider will get to enjoy his offseason without a chance to represent his country in 2026.
Cuylle's snub is terrible due to the fact that he was one Rangers player who gave it all on the ice this season, scoring 45 points (20-25), and was a player who evolved his game as time progressed.
While Matt Rempe, it's more understandable given he lacks the kind of dynamic play you'd want to see in the Olympics.
While he's no longer a seasoned brute on the bottom-six, he has added dimensions to his playstyle, but it isn't good enough for Hockey Canada.
In 42 games, he scored 8 points (3-5).
While Braden Schneider showed promise at the beginning of the year, he's remained a bottom-four option for the Rangers, and after Zac Jones left, we're not sure how he'll fare next season. In 82 games, he scored 21 points (6-15).
