The NHL official announces the winner of the Bill Masterton Trophy
The NHL awards the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy every year to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey.
The award is named after Bill Masterton, the only player in the history of the NHL to pass away due to injuries suffered during a game.
Today the NHL has announced Connor Ingram as this year's winner of the trophy. Ingram who played this season with the Arizona Coyotes is the perfect candidate for this award.
Connor Ingram is the 2023-24 recipient of the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, which is awarded «to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
Ingram has been very open with his struggles with mental health, OCD and depression, which almost sent him into an early retirement. Ingram turned to the NHLPA assistance program and found the proper help to turn his career around.
