It's been reported that Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin will be aggressively pursuing New York Rangers forward Arthur Kaliyev who is set to be a free agent this summer.

Jennifer Streeter of Blue Line Station revealed that Kaliyev was chosen off waivers in early January will likely not be given a qualifying offer which will make him an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

Canucks would like to pursue Kaliyev to help their depth

"Neither his shots or push for scoring chances were spectacular. In his 14 games he had a 47.48 expected goals for percentage, and a 48.68 Corsi for percentage according to Evolving-Hockey, and that suggests more often than not he was chasing play as opposed to driving it." Streeter said.

She added, "If General Manager and President Chris Drury decides to let Kaliyev enter unrestricted free agency, the loss of a player who didn't do much more than skate for 14 games wouldn't impact the Blueshirts much at all moving forward." - Jennifer Streeter
Allvin And his team are currently evaluating their organization has the entire team was in complete turmoil throughout the entire year which led to the major trade of former Rangers draft pick J.T. Miller to return to his former team to calm the situation.
His stat line was less than impressive with 14 games played, scoring three goals and one assist for four points and was a + 2.
The 23-year-old forward who stands at 6 foot 2 and 210 lbs will certainly help the Vancouver Canucks depth and likely only need a low-cost deal.

Rangers preparing for July 1st with main needs to be addressed

It's safe to say that the Rangers are in need in their offense and on their blue line.
This summer will be the first opportunity for the Rangers to lock up star Artemi Panarin do another deal as he is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026.
This year's unrestricted free agency does not bode well in terms of depth of stars but it's safe to say the Rangers will do their best to either make trades either at the draft or during the summer to help bolster the lineup.
