The Rangers Are Flirting With The Wrong Kind Of History
The Rangers surrendered four goals in the third period to lose another opportunity to close out the Carolina Hurricanes, losing 4-1, now forcing a Game 6 and killing any lasting momentum the Rangers had.
It was a pathetic and repulsive response from the home team who is flirting with the wrong kind of history. Even with a one goal lead for a the majority of the game, the Rangers never looked like they had the upper hand. Here is Vincent Trocheck with the simple response to reporters after another failed close out game:
"I just think that they wanted it more in the third."
Game 6 is on Thursday. Thursday might be the day we will find out what this team is truly made of. Either they will reach their second Eastern Conference finals in three seasons, or join an undesirable exclusive list of teams to blow a 3-0 series lead.
We will see what effort they bring Thursday.
