Second Round Of The Playoffs Is Fast Approaching
The New York Rangers are no strangers to the Stanley Cup playoffs since they have qualified sixty-two times. They also won four Stanley cup championships, the last one being in 1994.
The Rangers are performing well this season, thanks in part to their solid team and the addition of a new head coach in 2023, who has previously led two other teams to the Stanley Cup finals. Therefore, it is no surprise that the Rangers are currently in the Stanley cup playoffs again in 2024 and coming in hot.
During Sunday's game against the Washington Capitols, the Rangers won 4-2 making them the first team to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Rangers scored the first goal early on and were tied for the first two periods of the game. In the third period, Artemi Panarian broke the tie by scoring another goal. Although the Capitols made several attempts to score and even the playing field shortly after, they fell short with Jack Roslovic securing the winning goal with only 51 seconds left in the third period. The Rangers acquired Roslovic in the draft pick and he scored on an empty net during Sunday night's game.
Now the question remains, who will the Rangers play next? Their cross-town rivals, (New York Islanders) or the Carolina Hurricanes? The Hurricanes are in the lead so far and while fans seem to think the Hurricanes will take the win, only time will tell who the Rangers will face and how far they will advance.
