As the Eastern Conference Finals between the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers start tomorrow, former Rangers Sean Avery has a special request for Matt Rempe.

Sean Avery was discussing the upcoming series on his podcast, and requested Rangers rookie Matt Rempe to purposely injury Sam Bennett early in the series. Even went as far as telling him to just accept the major penalty, saying, "we'll kill off the five minute major."

Avery played in 580 career NHL games, managing to tally only 90 goals and 247 points. What he was more known for was the amount of time he spent in the with over 1500 career penalty minutes, with 8 seasons with over 100 PIMs and another 2 season with over 200 PIMs. Paul Bissonnette also chimed in saying Rempe should be a key player in this series.

Rempe became a highly controversial player during his debut with the Rangers, causing chaos and taking undisciplined penalties. Definitely not the most effective offensive player with only contributing to 3 points this season.
Question for Rangers fans
Do you think Matt Rempe is a necessity against the Panthers?

However, scoring isn't the only important thing about playoff hockey. Rempe definitely provides the physical aspect for the Rangers and hopefully he can proving that throughout the Eastern Conference Finals.
