The city of New York and its Ranger fans have been beaming over the past two games as the Rangers have been dominating the Capitals. During a New York Post sports interview with Brandon London, former Rangers legend Stephane Matteau was a guest who was asked how he felt the team is doing over the past two games.
Matteau told London that he feels the squad is much different than last year where they lost in the first round to the New Jersey Devils. He feels the Rangers can win any hockey game and they can do it in any way which is far different than before.
He also felt the team is more mature and ready to take the next step in their playoff run with hopes of being in the Stanley Cup finals.
Matteau was selected in the 1987 entry draft by the Calgary Flames, in the second round, 25th overall. During his time in the league he played for the Rangers from 1993 through 1996 where he won the cup in 1994.
With the series switching to Washington, and the capitals hoping to change their fortunes it's becoming clear that they may be overmatched and cannot stop the layers of depth the Rangers have. The team is also facing a former Vezina winning trophy starter in Igor Shesterkin who is getting better with each game.
The Rangers will start game 3 on April 26th. Game time will be 7:00 PM eastern.
