Former Rangers Patrick Kane says goodbye to the Red Wings
As the remaining NHL teams who did not make the playoffs clean out their lockers and do their exit interviews, Red Wings forward Patrick Kane sent a message on X formerly known as Twitter thanking the organization along with the fans of Hockeytown for the year that he had after having his major surgery and recovery.
It was a remarkable turn around for the 35-year-old winger as he underwent major hip surgery at the end of last season. During his recovery, it was widely reported of several teams interested in his services to which he chose the Detroit Red Wings as his destination.
Many pundits including Elliotte Friedman of the 32 thoughts podcast feels that Kane is looking for another destination with term As he wishes to settle down and finish his career in one city rather than hopping from one to the other. During his courting between teams earlier this year, the Buffalo Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs and even the Chicago Blackhawks were mentioned as potential teams he may go to.
It begs the question; would Patrick Kane be willing to go back to Chicago to finish out his career? Or would he rather go to a contender to try to win another Stanley Cup? My guess would be the 2nd as he only has so much time left in the NHL, and it will depend on how the health of his hip holds up in a full season of play.
