With the trade deadline in the rearview and teams gearing up for Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, many pundits and experts have weighed in where the Rangers stack up against the Eastern teams with some of the additions made on March 8th.
During ESPN'S «The Drop» Greg Wyshynski along with Shayna Goldman of the Athletic expressed their thoughts and feelings about what are the Rangers chances of making a deep run and taking their next Stanley Cup since 1994.
The consensus of the panel feels the Rangers have improved their chances , they still do appear strong enough to take on the Florida Panthers who seem to be this super invincible club to beat.
They also think the top line remains a concern.
This team is different than last year's 1st round failure and it seems some adversity had crept in at times especially with the defense and Igor Shesterkin which would make the team stronger.
I do think they will make a strong case for a deep run with Igor now stable and has re-found his game.
Add in Jonathan Quick as a good safety net and having played well all season and the team is capable of scoring in bunches, they should give a number of teams a run for their money.
Saying this, Head Coach Peter Laviolette will need to figure out the top line and get them scoring 5 on 5.
As for the Panthers, this is a whole new season and anything can happen where the regular season will have no bearing.
