Peter Laviolette reveals how discouraging it was for the Rangers to lose 4-0 to the Hurricanes
Head coach Peter Laviolette took issue with the New York Rangers embarrassing 4-0 defeat to the Carolina Hurricanes as he expresses how discouraging it was.
The New York Rangers took on the Carolina Hurricanes at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night and unfortunately took an absolute beating, resulting in Peter Laviolette to take issue with his team's performance.
Since the new year the Rangers have managed to turn things around and finally entered the race to secure one of the wild card spots. Unfortunately during Tuesday night the Rangers looked a lot like their old form from earlier this season, which has created some concern.
However, following the game Peter Laviolette addressed the media and revealed that it was very discouraging the third period was. Here's what he had to say according to Mollie Walker of the New York Post:
Head coach Peter Laviolette took issue with #NYR in the third period:
"The part that [was] really discouraging, for me, is the start of the third period pushed the game and took the energy from us and we never responded well after that."
Along with that Peter Laviolette also addressed why he changed the lines during the third period, as many fans were left confused and curious as to why:
#NYR head coach Peter Laviolette on why he changed the lines in the third:
"I had bumped somebody with Fil and Kreids multiple times through the course of the game. We didn't generate much through the first and second periods. I think maybe we had 6/7 chances and they might've had 8 even-strength. There wasn't a whole lot going on, but when we did move it up there was a couple chances that we generated on Fil's line. So we were moving pieces around just trying, down 2-0, don't think we were generating a lot and just trying to find something."
Hopefully the New York Rangers can managed to break through this and not let it affect their game moving forward as every point from here on out is very crucial.
The Rangers are set to take on the Boston Bruins on Saturday evening at 3:30PM
