It appeared that it was just not their night as the Rangers have righted their ship and have been playing well as of late and have put themselves back into the playoff hunt as they remained one to two points behind the second wild card.
"It stings different than the other night against Colorado. But yeah this one stings" - Mika Zibanejad on tonight's loss to the Hurricanes
Meanwhile Rangers forward Chris Kreider sat down and appeared dejected as he explained that he took some of the blame for the loss as he felt that he had three major plays that he could have had an impact but failed to connect.
Rangers will try to shake off their mini slump
"I know it's a team game, but personally I feel like there was 3 massive plays that I had the ability to impact the game positively and it swung the other way. So, it's hard" - Chris Kreider on his performance tonight vs. the Hurricanes
Even Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck explained that he just had some poor puck luck as he had a tough read which failed to allow him to make a shot.
Vincent Trocheck on this play: «I couldn't get the puck to my forehand. Tough angle for me. He was right on top of it. I could've shot it and buried it right into his chest or try to make a play.»
Despite the back-to-back losses, the Rangers will need to shake off this mini slump as they have five games facing them from February 1st through February 8th which include a run in with the Vegas Golden Knights.
