Ex-Rangers GM Jeff Gorton Secures Massive Contract Extension With The Montreal Canadiens

Just moments ago, reports broke out that former New York Rangers GM has just secured himself a massive contract extension with the Montreal Canadiens.
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, the Montreal Canadiens organization announced that they have signed former New York Rangers General Manager, Jeff Gorton, to a five-year contract extension.
The Montreal Canadiens Owner, President and Chief Executive Officer Geoff Molson, revealed that the organization agreed to terms on multi-year contract extensions with hockey executive Jeff Gorton, as well as with General Manager Kent Hughes.
«I am very pleased that Jeff and Kent have committed to the Montreal Canadiens for an additional five years. Their commitment to building a world class organization has been unrelenting and will only get better as we progress in the years to come,» said Geoff Molson. " I would like to thank Jeff and Kent for taking this team and organization to where it is today, full of talent, size and speed with a support structure that is second to none, an objective from day one. I look forward to many more years working with them.»
New York Rangers Fired Jeff Gorton And John Davidson Back In 2021
Back in 2021, the New York Rangers owner James L. Dolan decided to fire Gorton and team president John Davidson after the team failed to make the playoffs. Which is when Chris Drury was named as a replacement for Jeff Gorton.
Resulting in Jeff Gorton to join the Montreal Canadiens on November 28, 2021 earning himself a five-year extension, after locking down valuable assets such as Nick Suzuki, Juraj Slafkovsky, Lane Hutson, and Ivan Demidov as key pieces for their team for the foreseeable future.
