Outrage sparks as New York Rangers top prospect suffers injury due to outrageous incident
The New York Rangers fell 7-3 in a must-win scenario against the Columbus Blue Jackets. During the match-up play got intense, as forward Kent Johnson slammed Rangers top prospect Brett Berard into the bench.
The play resulted in the New York Rangers giving the team their first power-play of the night.
The penalty, albeit would only yield 2 minutes looks like it deserved to be a bench minor according to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman.
But the Rangers would get nothing more than a power play after the careless "play" occurred in front of the Rangers bench.
A hit by Kent Johnson on Brett Berard created some chaos (the door to the bench was open and the Rangers took issue with that) and led to the first power play of the game.
Not only were fans unhappy with how the Rangers handled with game, playing lazy hockey on the power-play.
They were unable to mount a significant comeback after witnessing a teammate like Berard get rag-dolled in front of their bench.
It's not difficult to believe time doesn't have the same spark it did last season, as they look emotionally dejected.
Considering that Matt Rempe is in the lineup, and didn't try to spark some momentum for the team to build on says everything.
A shameful display of hockey last night, as the team has failed to grab the brass ring, and run with it.
Not to mention, letting your top prospect get trashed is a problem that Peter Laviolette needs to address.
The Columbus Blue Jackets would come into Madison Square Garden and demolish the New York Rangers.
