The New York Rangers' own Mika Zibanejad has been the subject of trade rumors once again, as the Fourth Period's David Pagnotta has stirred up the water cooler talk of the center being moved. But Rangers fans aren't having it today.
Irate fans took to social media and began to flame the NHL Insider, David Pagnotta. Some even go as far as to question his bona fides.
Originally seen as a reliable source of information for trades, speculation, and contract signings, fans aren't so warm on his reporting anymore.
Today, he reported on a possible
trade scenario for Mika Zibanejad, who has turned his game around this season with the Rangers.
However, he his a full
no-movement clause attached to his contract, and fans wouldn't let Pagnotta live his inflammatory statement down.
Mika Zibanejad and the Curious Case of the No Movement Clause
In 13 games this season for the team, he's scored 6 points (2-4) and has shown confidence that he's lacked in seasons prior.
Last year, he scored 62 points (20-42) on a down year, and under Sullivan, things are looking progressively better.
Pagnotta is talking big here, and is correct that GM Chris Drury has been ruthless in the past, exercising options outside of the norm to
waive veterans like Barclay Goodrow.
Despite that, Zibanejad does hold all the cards here as a former superstar in the New York Rangers lineup.
While Pagnotta might be on the trail of something bigger, for now, it will take Drury extra effort in order to trade someone like Zibanejad.
