Over the past two weeks, the New York Rangers organization and the fan base has been settling in with the hire of former assistant coach Mike Sullivan now the head coach of the Rangers.
The players have begun to speak out about the higher and Rangers young forward
Will Cuylle feels that he trusts Sullivan is the right man for the job.
Cuylle feels that Sullivan will help build up young players
There has been a need for a culture shift within the Rangers over the past year as the team faltered throughout the season and missed the playoffs after being the President's trophy winners a year before and going to the Eastern Conference finals against the Florida Panthers.
Sullivan is well known for working with young players and helping develop them into great players which is great news for players like Cuylle.
Cuylle spoke to the media regarding the hire and feels quite confident that this was the right choice.
«I don't know him personally or have never met him,» Cuylle said about Sullivan. «It's good. I have lots of trust in the organization to hire a good option for us. I'm looking forward to meeting with him and working with him and hopefully have a good bounce back year in New York.» - Will Cuylle
Sullivan in for the long haul with Rangers
It became clear that Peter Laviolette's time with the Rangers was coming to an end as the team's performance continued to slip and fall throughout the season.
Despite many players admiration for the coach, it was clear a change was needed and a culture shift had to begin especially with their youth which will likely happen now with Sullivan at the helm.
Players like Zac Jones, Cuylle, Gabe Perreault and
Brennan Othmann are several young players that are up and coming within the organization and may be ready to take a permanent step into the NHL.
A coach like Sullivan will do everything in his power to give them a chance to play for the Rangers and if the players are not able to make the cut, they will likely spend the bulk of their time with the Hartford Wolf Pack as they will get good minutes and a way to continue to develop before they're ready to make the next step.
General manager Chris Drury has mentioned the team will have a different look next season so it's likely many trades and signings could happen with the team along with promotions from their youth and Sullivan will be able to assess and evaluate who will be the best fit.
