Noah Laba has been a pleasant surprise for the New York Rangers this season. As a rookie, he made the team's opening lineup after a stellar performance in the preseason, where he scored six points. Now, a fixture on the third line, the rollercoaster isn't done yet.

Laba originally started as an unknown who had an impressive stint in Hartford with the Wolfpack.
With an invitation to training camp, he grabbed the brass ring and didn't let go as he fought every inch of the way onto the Rangers roster.
Ultimately, the 2022 fourth-round pick earned a spot on the Rangers' opening-night roster. Now that we are eight games into the season, how has Laba fared at the NHL level?

While he has been impressive in his new digs in Madison Square Garden, growing pains are still an ongoing issue that teams will have to manage.
Per Mike Sullivan:
«It's been a little bit of a roller coaster ride,» Sullivan said on Laba's start to the season. «I think he's had moments where he's played extremely well. He's had moments where it's been a little bit overwhelming for him.

«I feel like there's a crowded bus when it comes to young players trying to make the jump into the league. We really like his game. He brings a speed element. He plays with confidence, which we really think is an important element of playing in this league. He also has aptitude, he's learning every day. The experience that he's getting, we think is invaluable.»

The third line center has played a total time on ice this season of 10:57, and has scored 2 points in 8 games for the Blueshirts.
He's earned roles on both the power-play and penalty kill for the team, as he's shown he's an impact player.
Laba will have to learn and grow as he is prepared to be a future problem-solver for the Rangers' long-term plans.
Maybe, even a factor in a future Stanley Cup playoff run?
